Modulift CMOD Spreader Frame Lifts Osaka Expo Icon “Myaku Myaku” in Japan
Controlled Lift Operations
Modulift’s CMOD12 spreader frame played a central role in the safe lift of Myaku Myaku, the official character of the Osaka-Kansai Expo 2025, during a high-profile departure ceremony held in Osaka City, Osaka Prefecture.
The lifting and loading operations were overseen by Sumihide Haruta, Technical Advisor at Nakamura Industry Co., Ltd., Modulift’s official distributor in Japan. The CMOD12 spreader frame system ensured controlled, compliant, and precise handling of the statue as it was transported to a storage facility. Because of the statue’s size, geometry, and public visibility, the lift required Modulift’s CMOD Spreader Frame to mitigate movement, protect the structure, and ensure a smooth transition during the handover.
Public Departure Ceremony
The event, attended by 1,000 Osaka residents selected through a highly oversubscribed public lottery – recording a 167-to-1 application ratio – marked the formal send-off of the beloved national mascot as it begins a scheduled tour across Japan to promote the Expo. It is scheduled to be relocated in the near future to a memorial park located in Toyonaka City, the former site of the Expo held in 1970.
National Promotional Tour
“We are delighted that Modulift has played its part in the relocation of such an iconic national mascot,” said Sarah Spivey, Managing Director at Modulift. “With the support of our distributor Nakamura Industry Co Ltd., Modulift equipment continues to deliver a fast and reliable service for lifts across Japan.”
The ceremony featured live music, presentations charting Myaku Myaku’s journey to date, and public addresses outlining its next phase of engagement with communities nationwide.
Norihisa Fukumoto of Nakamura Industry Co., Ltd., added: “The Departure Ceremony attracted significant public attention, and the use of the CMOD 12 spreader frame ensured that Myaku Myaku could be loaded safely and confidently. The system provided the stability required for a lift of this profile.”
Myaku Myaku continued travelling throughout Japan, engaging communities and supporting national promotional activities.
