This increases stress on lifting components and makes it more difficult for operators to assess sling leg angles accurately. The pewag Oversized Master Link is engineered for use with both 2-leg and 4-leg chain slings. Its upper curve is designed to optimise contact with crane hooks manufactured to DIN 15401.
The asymmetrical design of the master link provides a defined lower geometry that acts as a visual reference for sling leg angles, allowing operators to quickly assess whether a lift is configured within acceptable limits.
Visual Sling Angle Assessment
A key feature of the pewag Oversized Master Link is the geometry of its lower section:
- At 0–45°, sling legs naturally position themselves in the centre of the ring.
- At 45–60°, sling legs move towards the outer corners of the ring.
This clear visual movement provides an immediate indication that sling angles are approaching their upper limits, supporting safer decision-making and reducing the risk of miscalculation on site.
Strength, Standards, and Compatibility
The pewag Oversized Master Link is manufactured in accordance with EN 1677-4 and meets the mechanical requirements for Grade 12. It is designed for crane hooks to DIN 15401, up to hook number 25 and double hook size no. 32 according to DIN 15402, with extra-large rings providing compatibility with large single hooks.
The product features an all-metal, asymmetrical design, optimised for strength and durability in demanding lifting environments. The pewag Oversized Master Link is available in capacities 3t – 12.5t.
